We had a great day fishing local waters for chinook salmon yesterday. We hooked 5 chinook on a short 6 hour charter. Our first fish of the day was BIG… we were into a 10 minute battle with the fish that took several long runs and was not cooperating much at all. A local seal took notice of our battle and grabbed a hold of the fish behind the boat and did not let go. We ended up loosing the big fish and our gear as well. Once the cursing ended we got out gear back in the water and over the next hour we landed 4 more fish. One was an undersize chinook and the other 3 were 8, 10 and 12lbs. A great day on the water with a handful of crab from the traps and 3 beautiful winter chinook from local waters. The stomachs of the chinook were stuffed with herring ranging in size from 2″ to 8″ as well as shrimp. Spoons and hoochies were all working well and right on the bottom as usual in 100′ – 150′.
The fishing has been great lately so call us now to book your winter chinook fishing trip.
