UCLUELET SALMON AND HALIBUT FISHING REPORT:
We have been busy in Ucluelet with 26 trips in June so far and all charters returned with good catches of chinook, coho and halibut. We had a rough few weeks with very high NW winds earlier in the month so we were forced to stay inside Barkley Sound to chase chinook. We averaged 3-6 chinook a day inside the sound as well as a few halibut and ling cod. Most of the fish were ranging between 10-20 pounds with 1 beauty 31lb.
The last week we have been able to get to our favourite spots off La Paruse bank which is 20 miles offshore. This is the ‘fish highway’ as massive amounts of bait fish come out of deep water to feed on the sand and gravel banks. Chinook, coho, pinks and halibut are hot on the feed. The fishing has been HOT the last week with easy limits of chinook, coho and halibut.
Trolling in 220′ of water and finding chinook at all depths. The halibut are almost always caught dragging our cannon balls in the mud. Cuttle fish behind flashers as well as a variety of 4-6″ spoons have been producing. Humpback wales are seen daily.
The fishing is HOT and this should remain this way until mid September so call us today to book your Ucluelet fishing adventure. You will love this trip and I guarantee you will book again next year.
